The North Sumatra Provincial Central Statistics Agency (BPS Sumut) officially added three (3) regions as locations for the 2022 Cost of Living Survey (SBH), thus, there are eight city districts that will be used as locations for the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for the inflation release on February 1 2024 coming. Previously, 5 cities had been used as CPI monitoring locations, namely Medan, Pematangsiantar, Sibolga, Padangsidempuan, and Gunungsitoli, and three additional areas, namely Deliserdang, Labuhanbatu, and Karo.
This was conveyed by the Head of BPS for North Sumatra Province, Nurul Hasanudin when opening the Socialization Activity of the Results of the Cost of Living Survey (SBH), changes to the base year of the Consumer Price Index (CPI). Tuesday, January 30 2024 at the 5th Floor Hall of the BPS Building, North Sumatra Province.
"The three districts were chosen because they were considered to represent other surrounding areas in depicting economic development in rural areas, after all this time depicting urban areas," he said.
On this occasion, the Head of BPS District/City and several related OPDs were also present, including the Economic Bureau of the Regional Secretary of North Sumatra Province, the Representative of Bank Indonesia of North Sumatra Province, the Department of Industry, Trade, Energy and Mineral Resources of North Sumatra Province, the Department of Food Security, Food Crops and North Sumatra Province Horticulture, Perum Bulog,
Apart from providing direction, the Head of BPS for North Sumatra Province was also a resource person in the Socialization of the 2022 Cost of Living Survey Results with the Head of the Economic Bureau, Regional Secretary for North Sumatra Province, Mrs. Poppy Marulita Hutagalung.
In the final session, a question and answer discussion was held for participants from both the OPD and the Head of Regency/City BPS regarding the 2022 Cost of Living Survey.
