On Wednesday, April 1, 2026, BPS-Statistics Sumatera Utara Province held an Official Statistics News Release (BRS) delivered by the Head of BPS-Statistics Sumatera Utara Province, Asim Saputra. The release covered several indicators, namely the Consumer Price Index, Exports–Imports, Farmers’ Terms of Trade, Tourism, and Transportation.

In March 2026, Sumatera Utara Province experienced an annual (year-on-year) inflation rate of 3.86 percent, with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 111.51. The highest inflation occurred in Gunungsitoli Municipality at 6.30 percent with a CPI of 114.90, while the lowest occurred in Karo Regency at 3.01 percent with a CPI of 110.79.

The export value through loading ports in the Sumatera Utara region during January–February 2026 reached US$2,101.56 million, an increase of 9.34 percent compared to January–February 2025. Meanwhile, the import value through Sumatera Utara amounted to US$895.85 million, increasing by 7.92 percent compared to the same period in 2025. In addition, the Farmers’ Terms of Trade (FTT) in March 2026 was recorded at 157.16, or increased by 1.90 percent compared to February 2026.

In February 2026, the number of international tourist arrivals visiting Sumatera Utara reached 24,851 visits, an increase of 10.04 percent compared to January 2026. The number of domestic passengers arriving in Sumatera Utara through Kualanamu International Airport reached 155,871 people, a decrease of 18.50 percent compared to the previous month.
