Supporting the Success of the 2026 Economic Census through the Selection of KBLI Ambassadors Across Sumatera Utara Province

On Tuesday, April 28, 2026, BPS-Statistics Sumatera Utara Province organized the KBLI Ambassador Selection as part of its efforts to support the successful implementation of the 2026 Economic Census. The event was attended by representatives from each regency and municipality BPS office across the province, who competed at the provincial level with the objective of strengthening their ability to accurately identify and determine KBLI codes.

During the event, the Head of BPS-Statistics Sumatera Utara Province, Asim Saputra, emphasized that speed in identifying KBLI codes in the field is essential to overcoming challenges in classifying business activities. Given the wide variety of business types within the community, field officers are required to have a strong understanding of KBLI classifications in order to assign codes accurately and avoid errors during the data collection process.

After going through several selection stages, the organizing committee selected the five best participants to advance to the final round of the KBLI Ambassador Selection. Based on the final assessment results, the representative from BPS Kabupaten Batubara, Harianto Sardy Purba, was chosen as the KBLI Ambassador. Harianto demonstrated outstanding capability in understanding and accurately determining KBLI codes based on business activity classifications.

Asim Saputra stated that the implementation of this activity is expected to contribute significantly to the success of the 2026 Economic Census in Sumatera Utara. In addition, the knowledge and insights gained from this event are expected to be disseminated to all field officers as preparation to improve the quality and accuracy of data collection.
