Official Statistics News Release (BRS) – May 4, 2026

On Monday, May 4, 2026, BPS-Statistics Sumatera Utara Province held its Official Statistics News Release (Berita Resmi Statistik/BRS), presented by the Head of BPS-Statistics Sumatera Utara Province, Asim Saputra. The release covered several key indicators, including the Consumer Price Index (CPI), Exports and Imports, Farmers’ Terms of Trade (NTP), Tourism, and Transportation.

In April 2026, Sumatera Utara recorded an annual inflation rate (year-on-year/y-o-y) of 2.92 percent, with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 112.00. The highest inflation was recorded in Gunungsitoli at 4.66 percent, with a CPI of 114.53, while the lowest inflation occurred in Deli Serdang Regency at 1.92 percent, with a CPI of 111.20.

The export value through loading ports in Sumatera Utara during January–March 2026 reached US$2,968.65 million, representing an increase of 1.93 percent compared with the same period in 2025. Meanwhile, the import value through Sumatera Utara on a CIF (cost, insurance, and freight) basis amounted to US$1,273.76 million, a slight decrease of 0.13 percent compared with the same period in 2025. In addition, the Farmers’ Terms of Trade (NTP) for April 2026 was recorded at 162.45, increasing by 3.37 percent compared with March 2026.

In March 2026, the number of international tourist arrivals visiting Sumatera Utara reached 24,600 visits, reflecting a 1.01 percent decrease compared with February 2026. Meanwhile, the number of domestic passengers arriving in Sumatera Utara through Kualanamu International Airport reached 229,623 people, marking a significant increase of 47.32 percent compared with the previous month.
