PARSADA Webinar: “From Data to Research, It’s Time for Universities to Maximize BPS Data”
August 20, 2026 | Other Activities
On Thursday, August 20, 2026, the Head of the General Affairs Division of BPS-Statistics Sumatera Utara Province, Dadan Supriadi, officially opened the PARSADA Quarterly III Webinar, entitled “From Data to Research, It’s Time for Universities to Maximize BPS Data.” The webinar was attended by students, academics, and researchers.
In his remarks, Dadan Supriadi highlighted that by supporting trained Statistical Agents, the Pojok Statistik program contributes to meeting research needs and improving students’ understanding of data utilization. He also emphasized the importance of understanding statistical concepts and metadata to prevent errors in data analysis.
The webinar featured Nurul Tri Wahyuni as the speaker. She explained that statistical data can be classified into Basic Statistics, Sectoral Statistics, and Special Statistics. In this webinar, BPS introduced Basic Statistics produced by BPS, which can be utilized by students as a reliable data source for research and for producing valuable works that contribute to Indonesia.
The utilization of BPS data, when supported by appropriate analytical methods, can generate greater value in research. For example, panel data can be analyzed using the difference-in-differences method, regional data can be examined through spatial analysis, and data across different time periods can be analyzed using time-series methods. Meanwhile, researchers interested in computational analysis can utilize machine learning techniques.
Through this webinar, participants are expected to gain a better understanding of how BPS data can be effectively utilized to support high-quality research and generate innovative, evidence-based works.
