Official Statistics News Release – September 1, 2026

On Tuesday, September 1, 2026, BPS-Statistics Sumatera Utara Province held an Official Statistics News Release (BRS) at the BPS Sumatera Utara Hall. The release was delivered by the Head of BPS-Statistics Sumatera Utara Province, Asim Saputra, and presented various strategic indicators covering the Consumer Price Index, Farmers’ Terms of Trade, Exports and Imports, Tourism, and Transportation.

The economy of Sumatera Utara recorded year-on-year (y-on-y) inflation of 3.23 percent, with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) reaching 113.96. The highest y-on-y inflation was recorded in Labuhanbatu Regency at 5.10 percent, with a CPI of 119.65, while the lowest inflation was recorded in Karo Regency at 2.40 percent, with a CPI of 113.45.

In August 2026, the Farmers’ Terms of Trade (NTP) in Sumatera Utara stood at 156.96, an increase of 0.01 percent compared with July 2026, influenced by increases in NTP across several agricultural subsectors. Meanwhile, foreign trade performance showed a positive trend, with the value of exports shipped through loading ports in Sumatera Utara during January–July 2026 reaching US$7,933.17 million, an increase of 12.48 percent compared with the same period in 2025.

In the tourism and transportation sectors, the number of international tourist visits to Sumatera Utara through its three entry points reached 28,334 visits in July 2026, an increase of 22.50 percent compared with June 2026. Meanwhile, the number of domestic passengers arriving through Kualanamu International Airport totaled 180,714 passengers, up 0.57 percent from the previous month.
