Economic Sumatera Utara Quarter I-2018 Grows 4.73 Percent (y-on-y)

• The economy of Sumatera Utara in the first quarter of 2018 compared to the first quarter of 2017 (y-on-y) grew by 4.73 percent, while in the same period in 2016 grew by 4.53 percent. Based on the production approach, the highest growth was achieved by Information and Communication Fields of 8.20 percent. On the other hand, expenditures by component of LNPRT Consumption Expenditure grew 7.06 percent.
• When compared to the fourth quarter of 2017 (q-to-q) the economy of Sumatera Utara in the first quarter of 2018 grew negatively by 0.41 percent. This contraction is caused by some negative growth field. Based on the highest growth expenditure approach achieved by LNPRT consumption component of 3.88 percent.
• Three business fields that give dominant role to GRDP in the first quarter of 2018 are: agriculture, forestry and fishery by 21.65 percent, processing industry by 20.34 percent and large and retail trade and replication of cars and motorcycles of 18.09 percent. On the expenditure side, household consumption expenditure (PKRT) contributed 53.92 percent, followed by 34.73 percent of exports of goods and services and gross fixed capital formation (PMTB) of 30.65 percent.
• In nominal terms, the GDP of Sumatera Utara in the first quarter of 2018 at current prices reached Rp 177,618.65 billion and GRDP at constant 2010 prices reached Rp.124.057,85 billion.
