Economy of Sumatera Utara Quarter III-2018 grew by 5.43 percent (year on year)

Abstract

Sumatera Utara economic growth measured by the increase in Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) on the basis of constant 2010 prices in the third quarter of 2018 compared to the third quarter of 2017 (year on year) increased by 5.43 percent. The highest growth in the information and communication business was 7.94 percent, followed by company services at 6.90 percent and providing accommodation and drinking meals at 6.82 percent. In terms of expenditure, the highest growth was in the component of LNPRT consumption expenditure which grew by 13.27 percent.
Based on the production approach, the three business fields that gave a dominant role to GRDP in the third quarter of 2018 were: agriculture, forestry and fisheries by 21.07 percent, processing industries by 20.00 percent and large trade and retail and repair of cars and motorbikes as big as 18.53 percent. In terms of expenditure, the component of household consumption expenditure was dominated by 53.79 percent and exports of goods and services amounted to 38.72 percent.
When compared to Sumatera Utara second quarter 2018 (q to q) economy in the third quarter of 2018 it increased 3.22 percent. Sectorally, the agricultural, forestry and fisheries business sector experienced the highest growth of 5.60 percent. Meanwhile, in terms of expenditure, the highest growth was achieved by the exports of goods and services at 15.44 percent. Nominally, North Sumatra's GDP in the third quarter of 2018 on the basis of current prices reached Rp.188.88 trillion and GDP at constant 2010 prices reached Rp. 130.85 trillion.
