Sumatera Utara Consumer Tendency Index Quarter IV of 2018 is 110.62

Abstract

• Sumatera Utara Consumer Tendency Index (ITK) in the fourth quarter of 2018 amounted to 110.62, meaning that the condition of the consumer economy in the fourth quarter of 2018 was better (optimistic) compared to the third quarter of 2018. The improving economic condition of consumers was mainly due to an increase in the inflation influence index towards consumption (index value 113.03).

• Compared to ITK in the third quarter of 2018 which is worth 97.16, it means that the level of consumer optimism in the fourth quarter of 2018 is much higher compared to the third quarter of 2018.

• Compared to provinces in Sumatra, the Sumatera Utara index value for Quarter IV-2018 is in third place.

• The value of ITK in Sumatera Utara in the first quarter of 2019 is estimated at 93.31, meaning that the condition of the consumer economy in the first quarter of 2019 is not expected to be better than the fourth quarter of 2018. Consumer pessimism is driven by the index of purchasing durable goods with an index value of 71,74.
