Abstract

• As of April 2019, Sumatera Utara Province NTP (2012 = 100) was recorded at 99.00 or up 0.47 percent compared to the March 2019 NTP which was equal to 98.54.

• The increase in the April 2019 NTP was caused by the increase in the Horticulture sub-sector NTP by 1.24 percent, and the NTP of the Community Plantation Plant Sub-sector by 1.95 percent. While the Food Crop sub-sector NTP fell by 0.30 percent, Livestock sub-sector NTP fell by 1.21 percent, and Fisheries subsector NTP fell by 0.69 percent.

• Changes in the Household Consumption Index (SCE) reflect the rural inflation / deflation rate. In April 2019, rural inflation in Sumatera Utara was 0.95 percent. This is due to an increase in six household consumption indexes, namely the foodstuffs group index of 1.97 percent, the processed food, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco group index of 0.20 percent, the housing group index of 0.04 percent, the clothing group index by 0.41 percent, the health group index by 0.11 percent, and the transportation and communication group index by 0.16 percent.

• The Exchange Rate of Agricultural Household Businesses (NTUP) of Sumatera Utara Province in April 2019 amounted to 107.61 or increased by 1.13 percent compared to NTUP the previous month.
