Abstract

EXPORT

 The export value through loading ports in the Sumatera Utara region in May 2019 has increased compared to April 2019, namely from US $ 607.12 million to US $ 677.45 million or an increase of 11.58 percent. When compared with May 2018, Sumatera Utara exports decreased by 22.23 percent.
 The increase in Sumatera Utara export value in May 2019 against April 2019 occurred in animal / vegetable fats and oils (HS 15) of US $ 33.33 million (18.09%) followed by coffee, tea, spices (HS 09) of US $ 18.26 million (44.24%) while the decline in exports occurred in the various chemical products category (HS 38) which decreased by US $ 6.49 million (-8.11%) and organic chemicals (HS 29) which decreased by US $ 5 , 37 million (16.93%).
 Exports to China in May 2019 were the largest, namely US $ 102.07 million, followed by the United States at US $ 89.59 million and Japan at US $ 41.97 million with the contribution of the three reaching 34.49 percent.
 According to the group of export destination countries in May 2019, exports to the Asian region (outside ASEAN) are the largest with a value of US $ 213.14 million (31.46 percent).


IMPORT

Impor The import value through Sumatera Utara in May 2019 on the basis of CIF (cost, insurance & freight) amounted to US $ 410.97 million, or decreased by 1.54 percent compared to April 2019 which reached US $ 417.41 million. When compared with the same month in the previous year, the value of imports decreased by 27.07 percent.
 Import value in May 2019 compared to April 2019, capital goods rose by 4.16 percent, consumer goods rose by 5.63 percent while raw / auxiliary materials fell by 3.32 percent.
 As of May 2019, the category of goods experiencing the largest increase in import value was pulp / leftovers from the food industry (HS 23) of US $ 17.74 million (72.07%), followed by mineral fuels (HS 27) of US $ 2.24 million (4.83%). While the categories of goods which experienced the largest decline in import value were inorganic chemicals (HS 28) which decreased by US $ 11.84 million (-43.26%) followed by machinery / aircraft mechanics (HS 84) which decreased by US $ 9.81 million ( -17.33%).
 The import value in May 2019 from China was the largest, namely US $ 75.63 million with its role reaching 18.40 percent of Sumatera Utara total imports, followed by Malaysia at US $ 53.04 million (12.91%), and Singapore at US $ 49 , 09 million (11.95%).
