Growth of Large Medium Manufacturing Industry Production in Sumatera Utara Province Quarter II-2019 fell by 7.96 percent (y-on-y). While the growth of the Sumatera Utara Small Micro Industry Quarter II-2019 increased by 5.68 percent (y-on-y).

• Growth in the production of the Large and Medium Manufacturing Industries of Sumatera Utara Province in the second quarter of 2019 fell by 7.96 percent compared to the same period in 2018 (y-on-y). This decrease was mainly due to the decline in the growth of the tobacco processing industry by 53.77 percent, the wood industry, wood and cork goods and woven goods from bamboo, rattan and the like by 14.92 percent and the food industry by 14.87 percent.
• Growth in the production of large and medium (q-to-q) manufacturing industries in Sumatera Utara Province in the second quarter of 2019 decreased by 2.36 percent compared to the production of large and medium manufacturing industries in the first quarter of 2019. Types of industries that experienced a decline were industry tobacco processing amounting to 26.73 percent, wood industry, wood and cork goods and woven goods from bamboo, rattan and similar products at 23.95 percent, and the rubber industry, goods from rubber and plastics amounting to 14.76 percent.
• Growth in the production of micro and small manufacturing industries in Sumatera Utara Province in quarter II-2019 increased by 5.68 percent compared to the same period in 2018 (y-on-y). The types of industries that experienced increases included repair and installation of machinery and equipment at 73.16 percent, other transportation equipment industries at 36.94 percent, and other processing industries at 26.48 percent.
• Growth in the production of the micro and small manufacturing industries of Sumatera Utara Province in the second quarter 2019 increased by 1.11 percent compared to the first quarter of 2019 (q-to-q). The types of industries that increased included repair and installation of machinery and equipment by 41.86 percent, other processing industries by 17.31 percent and the leather industry, goods from leather and footwear by 16.78 percent.
