• The poverty rate of Sumatera Utara has decreased by 0.11 percentage points, from 8.94 percent in September 2018 to 8.83 percent in March 2019. This poverty rate is equivalent to 1.28 million people in March 2019, or reduced by around 10 thousand soul in the last semester.
• The percentage of poor people in urban areas in March 2019 was 8.56 percent, a decrease compared to September 2018 which was 8.84 percent. In contrast, the poor population in rural areas increased from 9.05 percent in September 2018 to 9.14 percent in March 2019.
• The Poverty Line in March 2019 was recorded at Rp. 466.122, - / capita / month with the composition of the Food Poverty Line of Rp. 351,215, - (75.35 percent) and the Non-Food Poverty Line of Rp. 114,907, - (24.65 percent).
