Abstract

• The labor force in February 2020 was 7.29 million people, down 156 thousand compared to February 2019. In line with that the Labor Force Participation Rate (TPAK) also fell by 2.57 points.
• In the last year TPT fell 0.83 points to 4.73 percent in February 2020. Judging from the level of education, the highest TPT was TPT with a vocational education level of 7.51 percent.
• The population of working in Sumatera Utara in February 2020 was 6.95 million people, a decrease of 87 thousand people from February 2019. Based on the main employment in February 2020 the population mostly worked in the agricultural sector (38.48 percent) followed by the wholesale and retail trade sector ; car and motorcycle repair and maintenance (16.66 percent) and the manufacturing sector (8.26 percent).
• Most of the working population ie 58.63 percent (4.07 million people) work in informal activities. Over the past year, from February 2019 informal workers fell by 1.62 points.
• The percentage of incomplete workers in February 2020 was 32.68 percent consisting of 25.31 percent part-time workers and 7.37 percent underemployed. While full-time workers or those who work at least 35 hours per week are 67.32 percent.
