Abstract

  • The economy of Sumatera Utara based on the amount of Gross Regional Domestic Product (PDRB) based on the prevailing price for the third quarter of 2020 reached Rp. 204.60 trillion and at constant 2010 prices reached Rp. 133.90 trillion.
  • The economy of Sumatera Utara in quarter III-2020 against quarter III-2019 experienced a contraction of 2.60 percent (y-on-y). From the production side, the Transportation and Warehousing Business Field experienced the highest growth contraction of 17.87 percent. In terms of expenditure, exports of goods and services were the component with the highest growth contraction of 14.36 percent.
  • The economy of Sumatera Utara in quarter III-2020 against quarter II-2020 increased by 3.13 percent (q-to-q). From the production side, growth was driven by all business fields, with the highest growth in the Transportation and Warehousing Business Field at 5.62 percent. Meanwhile, from the expenditure side, the increase was due to growth in all components, with the highest growth in the Export of Goods and Services component at 10.16 percent.
  • The economy of Sumatera Utara until the third quarter of 2020 experienced a contraction of 0.27 percent (c-to-c). From the production side, the highest growth contraction was in the Transportation and Warehousing Business Field at 11.35 percent. From the expenditure side, the highest growth contraction was in the Goods and Services Export Component at 11.73 percent.
  • The economic structure on the island of Sumatra spatially in the third quarter of 2020 was dominated by several provinces, including Sumatera Utara Province which contributed the largest to GRDP on the island of Sumatra by 23.82 percent; Riau Province 21.82 percent; South Sumatra Province 13.77 percent; and Lampung Province 10.95 percent. While the lowest contribution was Bengkulu Province at 2.17 percent.
