Abstract
• Farmer Exchange Rate (NTP) is the comparison of the price index received by farmers (It) to the price index paid by farmers (Ib).
• NTP is an indicator to determine the level of ability / purchasing power of farmers in rural areas. NTP also shows the terms of trade of agricultural products with goods and services consumed as well as for production costs.
• In January 2021, the NTP of North Sumatra Province (2018 = 100) was recorded at 114.96 or decreased 0.22 percent compared to the NTP in December 2020, which was 115.21.
• The decline in NTP in January 2021 was caused by a decrease in NTP in two sub-sectors, namely the NTP of the Food Crops sub-sector, which fell by 0.74 percent and NTP in the Smallholder Plantation sub-sector by 0.35 percent. Meanwhile, the other three sub-sectors experienced an increase, namely the NTP of the Horticultural Crops subsector, up by 1.33 percent, the NTP of the Animal Husbandry sub-sector by 0.21 percent, and the NTP of the fisheries subsector by 0.84 percent.
• Changes in the Household Consumption Index (IKRT) reflect the rural inflation / deflation rate. In January 2021, there was rural inflation in North Sumatra of 1.01 percent.
• Agricultural Household Business Exchange Rate (NTUP) of North Sumatra Province in January 2021 amounted to 116.96 or an increase of 0.24 percent
