Abstract

The economy of Sumatera Utara based on the amount of Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) Quarter I-2022 at current prices reached Rp. 225.42 trillion and based on constant prices in 2010 reached Rp. 138.88 trillion.

The economy of Sumatera Utara in the first quarter of 2022 compared to the fourth quarter of 2021 experienced a contraction of 0.13 percent (q-to-q). In terms of production, the highest growth was in the Financial Services Business Field of 6.57 percent. In terms of expenditure, the component of the export of goods and services was the component that experienced the highest growth of 2.30 percent.

Sumatera Utara's economy in the first quarter of 2022 compared to the first quarter of 2021 grew by 3.90 percent (y-on-y). In terms of production, the Health Services Business Field experienced the highest growth of 7.78 percent. Meanwhile, in terms of expenditure, the highest growth was in the component of Exports of Goods and Services at 14.64 percent.

The economic structure on Sumatra Island spatially in the first Quarter of 2022 is dominated by several provinces including Sumatera Utara Province which contributes to GRDP on Sumatra Island by 22.92 percent; Riau Province by 24.56 percent; South Sumatra Province by 13.05 percent; and Lampung Province by 9.64 percent. While the lowest contribution was Bengkulu Province at 2.10 percent.
