Abstract

Farmer's Exchange Rate (NTP) is the ratio of the price index received by farmers (It) to the index of price paid by farmers (Ib).

NTP is one indicator to see the level of ability/purchasing power of farmers in rural areas. NTP also shows the terms of trade (terms of trade) of agricultural products with goods and services consumed as well as for production costs.

In September 2022, the NTP of Sumatera Utara Province (2018=100) was recorded at 119.33, an increase of 1.30 percent compared to the NTP of August 2022, which was 117.80.

The increase in NTP in September 2022 was due to the increase in FTT in two sub-sectors, namely the NTP for the Food Crops sub-sector by 0.20 percent and the NTP for People's Plantation Plants by 2.98 percent. Meanwhile, the FTT of the other three sub-sectors decreased, namely the FTT of the Horticulture sub-sector by 3.82 percent, the FTT of the Livestock sub-sector by 0.56 percent, and the FTT of the Fisheries sub-sector by 2.34 percent.

Changes in the Household Consumption Index (IKRT) reflect the rate of rural inflation/deflation. In September 2022, rural inflation in Sumatera Utara was 0.99 percent.

The Agricultural Household Business Exchange Rate (NTUP) of Sumatera Utara Province in September 2022 was 116.95, an increase of 0.57 percent compared to the previous month's NTUP.
