Abstract

Farmers Terms of Trade (NTP) is a comparison of the price index received by farmers (It) to the price index paid by farmers (Ib).

NTP is one indicator to see the level of ability/purchasing power of farmers in rural areas. NTP also shows the exchange power (terms of trade) of agricultural products with goods and services consumed as well as for production costs.

In November 2022, the Sumatera Utara Province's NTP (2018=100) was recorded at 124.37, up 2.68 percent compared to October 2022's NTP, which was 121.12.

The increase in November 2022 NTP was caused by an increase in the NTP in the People's Plantation Plant sub-sector by 5.29 percent. Meanwhile, the NTP of four other sub-sectors experienced a decline, namely the NTP of the Food Crops sub-sector by 0.40 percent, the NTP of the Horticulture sub-sector by 2.84 percent, the NTP of the Livestock sub-sector by 0.04 percent, and the NTP of the Fisheries sub-sector by 0.15 percent.

Changes in the Household Consumption Index (IKRT) reflect rural inflation/deflation rates. In November 2022, there was rural deflation in Sumatera Utara of 0.04 percent.

The Agricultural Household Business Exchange Rate (NTUP) for North Sumatra Province in November 2022 was 120.44 or an increase of 2.56 percent compared to the previous month's NTUP
