Abstract

The economy of Sumatera Utara based on the size of the Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) at current prices in 2022 reaches IDR 955.19 trillion and the per capita GRDP reaches IDR 63.19 million.
  • Sumatera Utara's economy in 2022 will grow by 4.73 percent, higher than the achievements in 2021 which grew by 2.61 percent. From the production side, the highest growth occurred in the Transportation and Warehousing Business Field of 12.69 percent. From the expenditure side, the highest growth was in the Goods and Services Export Component of 11.44 percent.
  • The economy of Sumatera Utara in the fourth quarter of 2022 against the fourth quarter of 2021 grew by 5.26 percent (y-on-y). From the production side, the Transportation and Warehousing Business Field experienced the highest growth of 16.02 percent. Meanwhile, from the expenditure side, the Goods and Services Export Component experienced the highest growth of 9.77 percent.
  • The economy of Sumatera Utara in the fourth quarter of 2022 against the third quarter of 2022 grew by 0.46 percent (q-to-q). From the production side, the highest growth was in the Transportation and Warehousing Business Field of 3.89 percent. From the expenditure side, the Government Consumption Expenditure Component was the component with the highest growth of 4.92 percent.
  • Spatially, the economic structure on the island of Sumatera in 2022 is dominated by several large provinces. The three largest of them were Riau Province which contributed 23.50 percent, Sumatera Utara 22.63 percent and South Sumatra which contributed 14.02 percent. While the lowest contribution was Bengkulu with a contribution of 2.14 percent.
