Abstract

The economy of Sumatera Utara first quarter of 2023, at current prices, reached Rp. 251.95 trillion and at constant 2010 prices reached Rp. 145.71 trillion.

The economy of Sumatera Utara in the first quarter of 2023 compared to the fourth quarter of 2022 experienced a contraction of 0.45 percent (q-to-q). From the production side, the highest growth was in Financial and Insurance Services of 2.70 percent. From the expenditure side, the Government Consumption Expenditure (PK-P) component experienced the highest contraction of 11.05 percent.

The economy of Sumatera Utara in the first quarter of 2023 compared to the first quarter of 2022 grew by 4.87 percent (y-on-y). From the production side, Transportation and Warehousing experienced the highest growth of 15.64 percent. Meanwhile, from the expenditure side, the highest growth was in the PK-LNPRT component of 7.46 percent.

Spatially, the economic structure on Sumatra Island in the first quarter of 2023 was dominated by several provinces, including Sumatera Utara Province which contributed 23.16 percent to GRDP on Sumatra Island; Riau Province by 23.05 percent; South Sumatra Province at 13.89 percent; and Lampung Province at 9.70 percent. While the lowest contribution was Bengkulu Province at 2.12 percent.
