Abstract

The Gender Inequality Index (IKG) for 2022 has decreased compared to the previous year. North Sumatra's IKG was 0.442 (down 0.003) points compared to 2021 which was 0.445.
  • The decline in the Gender Inequality Index (IKG) in North Sumatra Province was mainly influenced by improvements in the dimensions of reproductive health and empowerment dimensions.
  • The improvement in the reproductive health dimension is influenced by the improvement in the indicator of women having their first live birth aged <20 years not in a health facility which has fallen from 16.1 percent in 2021 to 15.5 percent in 2022.
  • The improvement in the empowerment dimension was influenced by the improvement in the indicator for the percentage of women in the legislature which increased higher than men. The percentage of women will increase from 13.13 percent in 2021 to 14.14 percent, while the percentage of men will decrease from 86.87 percent to 85.86 percent in 2022.
