Abstract

The value of exports through loading ports in the Sumatera Utara region in September 2023 decreased compared to August 2023, namely from US$924.97 million to US$874.78 million or a decrease of 5.43 percent. When compared with September 2022, Sumatera Utara's exports decreased by 23.76 percent
  • The category of goods that experienced the largest decline in export value was the animal/vegetable fats and oils group amounting to US$53.94 million (-12.41%), while the category of goods that experienced the largest increase in export value in September 2023 compared to August 2023 was the various chemical products category. namely an increase of US$10.52 million (10.37%).
  • Exports to China in September 2023 were the largest, namely US$173.67 million, followed by the United States at US$113.39 million and India at US$69.85 million with the contribution of the three reaching 40.80 percent.
  • According to the group of main export destination countries in September 2023, exports to the Asian region (outside ASEAN) were the largest with a value of US$337.19 million (38.55%).
  • The value of imports through Sumatera Utara in September 2023 on a CIF (cost, insurance & freight) basis was US$462.76 million or decreased by 4.10 percent compared to August 2023 which was US$482.53 million. When compared with the same month in the previous year, the value of imports decreased by 12.37 percent.
  • The value of imports by goods use class in September 2023 compared to August 2023, capital goods fell by 10.81 percent, raw/auxiliary materials fell by 0.29 percent and consumer goods fell by 14.68 percent.
  • In September 2023, the category of goods that experienced the largest decrease in import value was wheat amounting to US$27.30 million (-64.87%), while the category of goods that experienced the largest increase in import value was the mineral fuel group amounting to US$30.91 million (28 .13%).
  • The September 2023 import value from China is the largest, namely US$122.71 million, with its role reaching 26.52 percent of North Sumatra's total imports, followed by Malaysia at US$64.00 million (15.21%) and Singapore at US$52.72 million. (12.53%).
