Abstract

Farmer Exchange Rate (NTP) is a comparison of the price index received by farmers (It) to the price index paid by farmers (Ib).
  • NTP is an indicator to see the level of ability/purchasing power of farmers in rural areas. NTP also shows the exchangeability (terms of trade) of agricultural products for goods and services consumed and for production costs.
  • In March 2024, the NTP for Sumatera Utara Province (2018=100) was recorded at 132.67 or an increase of 1.62 percent compared to the NTP in February 2024, which was 130.56.
  • The increase in NTP in March 2024 was caused by an increase in the NTP of three subsectors, namely the NTP in the Horticulture subsector by 5.05 percent, the NTP in the People's Plantation Subsector by 2.76 percent, and the NTP in the Fisheries subsector by 0.72 percent. Meanwhile, the NTP for two other subsectors experienced a decline, namely the NTP for the Food Crops subsector by 1.51 percent and the NTP for the Livestock subsector by 0.18 percent.
  • The Agricultural Household Business Exchange Rate (NTUP) for Sumatera Utara Province in March 2024 was 133.04 or an increase of 2.44 percent compared to the previous month's NTUP.
  • The Grain Producer Price Survey in Sumatera Utara in March recorded 141 observations of grain sales transactions in 13 selected districts with the largest composition dominated by Harvested Dry Grain (GKP) with 92 observations (65.25%), followed by Quality Out-of-Grain Grain with 43 observations (30 .50%), and Dry Milled Grain (GKG) with 6 observations (4.26%).
  • At the farmer level in March, the highest price for grain was IDR. 7,363 per kg comes from quality GKG grain of the Ciherang variety in Toba Regency. Meanwhile, the lowest price is IDR. 5,500 per kg comes from GKP quality grain of Ciherang and IR 64 varieties in North Labuhanbatu Regency.
  • At the milling level in March, the highest price of grain was IDR. 7,463 per kg comes from quality GKG grain of the Ciherang variety in Toba Regency. Meanwhile, the lowest price is IDR. 5,600 per kg comes from GKP quality grain of Ciherang and IR 64 varieties in North Labuhanbatu Regency.
  • The average price of grain for the Milled Dry Grain (GKG) quality group at the farmer level decreased by 3.71 percent from Rp. 7,158 per kg in February to Rp. 6,892 per kg in March. The quality group for Harvested Dry Grain (GKP) also experienced a decrease of 1.23 percent from the previous month, namely from Rp. 6,208 per kg to Rp. 6,131 per kg.
  • The average price of grain for the Milled Dry Grain (GKG) quality group at the milling level decreased by 4.82 percent from Rp. 7,320 per kg in February to Rp. 6,967 per kg in March. The quality group of Harvested Dry Grain (GKP) also experienced a decrease of 0.68 percent from the previous month, namely from Rp. 6,345 per kg to Rp. 6,301 per kg.
