Abstract

The export value through loading ports in the Sumatera Utara region in September 2024 decreased compared to August 2024, namely from US$1,041.48 million to US$996.23 million or decreased by 4.34 percent. When compared to September 2023, Sumatera Utara's exports increased by 13.89 percent.
  • The group of goods that experienced the largest decrease in September 2024 compared to August 2024 was the animal/vegetable fats & oils group, which decreased by US$27.08 million (-6.34%) followed by the coffee, tea, spices group, which decreased by US$16.60 million (-34.81%). The group of goods that experienced the largest increase in export value was the rubber and rubber goods group, which increased by US$11.72 million (14.50%).
  • Exports to China in September 2024 were the largest at US$178.65 million, followed by the United States at US$143.82 million and India at US$61.79 million with the contribution of the three reaching 38.57 percent.
  • According to the main export destination countries in September 2024, exports to the Asian region (outside ASEAN) were the largest with a value of US$346.52 million (34.78%).
  • The value of imports through Sumatera Utara in September 2024 on a CIF (cost, insurance & freight) basis was US$456.10 million or decreased by 8.94 percent compared to August 2024 which was valued at US$500.87 million. When compared to the same month in the previous year, the import value decreased by 1.44 percent.
  • Import value by category of goods usage in September 2024 compared to August 2024, consumer goods increased by 4.55 percent while auxiliary raw materials decreased by 5.36 percent and capital goods decreased by 36.36 percent.
  • In September 2024, the category of goods that experienced the largest decrease in import value was the group of mechanical machines/aircraft by US$22.30 million (-27.63%) while the one that experienced the largest increase in import value was inorganic chemicals with a value of US$10.28 million (49.93%).
  • The import value in September 2024 from China was the largest at US$121.50 million with its role reaching 26.64 percent of North Sumatra's total imports, followed by Singapore at US$68.88 million (15.10%) and Malaysia at US$59.92 million (13.14%).
