Abstract

  • In December 2024, year-on-year (y-on-y) inflation in Sumatera Utara Province was 2.12 percent with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 107.25. The highest y-on-y inflation occurred in Labuhanbatu Regency at 3.36 percent with a CPI of 110.44, while the lowest y-on-y inflation occurred in Karo Regency at 1.33 percent with a CPI of 107.80.
  • The y-on-y inflation in Sumatera Utara occurred due to an increase in prices as indicated by an increase in the index of most expenditure groups, namely: food, beverages and tobacco group by 3.59 percent; clothing and footwear group by 2.12 percent; housing, water, electricity and household fuel group by 0.45 percent; household equipment, tools and routine maintenance group by 0.67 percent; health group by 1.82 percent; information, communication and financial services group by 0.34 percent; recreation, sports, and culture group by 0.90 percent; education group by 0.99 percent; food and beverage/restaurant provision group by 2.19 percent; and personal care and other services group by 6.40 percent. Meanwhile, the expenditure group that experienced deflation was the transportation group by 0.35 percent.
