Spatial Data Training

August 23, 2017 | BPS Activities

The use of geospatial technology in census and survey activities is carried out in the preparation stage, conducting data collection and dissemination of census or survey results. The major activity to be implemented in the near future is the Population Census 2020 (SP2020). Another urgent activity is the updating of wetland rice land maps related to the provision of comparative data on the results of the Crop Farming Survey (SP) and as supporting the preparation of the Sample Area Framework (KSA). One of the efforts to provide a quality map and a quality area sample framework is to ensure that the human resources (BPS) of BPS both at central and regional levels can meet the provision of such data. Therefore, Geographic Information System (GIS) Capacity Building activities and Spatial Data Quality Improvement are held.

To achieve optimal results, one of the most important stages of activity is training. GIS Capacity Building activities and Spatial Data Quality Improvement start from the training of central BPS staff and employees in the Integration Processing and Dissemination Statistics (IPDS) of each province. Furthermore, each provincial BPSP IPDS employee who has been trained, must submit training materials to BDS districts / municipality IPDS employees.

Spatial Data Training is held by BPS of Sumatera Utara Province from 24 s.d 27 August 2017 at Hotel Emerald garden, Jl. KL Yos Sudarso No. 1 Medan and attended by 37 participants consisting of 29 participants from Regency / City BPS and 8 participants from BPS of Sumatera Utara Province.
