Advances in technology, transportation and environmental changes create populations that are moving faster and more dynamically (mobile). One form of population mobility is known as commuting/shuttle. If seen from its development, this activity experiences very rapid development especially in big cities such as DKI Jakarta with neighboring supporting cities, also Medan City with surrounding Regency/City namely Binjai City and Deli Serdang Regency. To get complete data about commuters, a separate survey is needed in which the results can be used as development planning materials in both the origin and commuter destinations.
The 2019 Commuter Survey collects data relating to population mobility, namely information about the number and pattern of commuters as well as the characteristics of the actors. This 2019 Commuter Survey is the second time held at Mebidang, which was previously held in 2015.
The officer training carried out, is one of the stages in conducting the Commuter Survey. The purpose of the training is to get a common understanding of the purpose of questions/variables, concept definitions, how to ask questions and how to fill out questionnaires. In the training, directives will also be given regarding the procedure for implementing the field so that the survey runs according to the time schedule and gets optimal results. The training activities included the presentation of material in the classroom by the instructor, discussion, training in interviewing and filling out questionnaires, role playing, quizzes, and material deepening.
The 2019 Trial Commuter Survey Staff Training was held by the Statistics of Sumatera Utara Province(BPS) from the 25th of March 29th 2019 at the Grandhika Hotel, Setiabudi-Medan. The training was attended by 59 participants consisting of 22 participants from the Statistics of Deli Serdang Regency (BPS), 12 participants from the Statistics of Binjai City (BPS), and 23 participants from the Statistics of Medan City (BPS), and 2 participants from the Statistics of Sumatera Utara Province(BPS).
