Official Statistics News Release, June 2, 2026

On Tuesday, 2 June 2026, BPS-Statistics Sumatera Utara Province held the Official Statistics News Release (BRS), presented by the Head of BPS-Statistics Sumatera Utara Province, Asim Saputra, at the BPS Sumatera Utara auditorium. The release presented a range of strategic indicators, including the Consumer Price Index, Farmers’ Terms of Trade, Exports and Imports, Tourism, and Transportation.

The economy of Sumatera Utara Province recorded a year-on-year (y-on-y) inflation rate of 4.35 percent, with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) standing at 113.00. The highest y-on-y inflation was recorded in Gunungsitoli at 5.35 percent, with a CPI of 115.10, while the lowest inflation was recorded in Karo Regency at 3.98 percent, with a CPI of 112.81.

In May 2026, the Farmers’ Terms of Trade (FTT) in Sumatera Utara Province was recorded at 159.92, a decrease of 1.56 percent compared to April 2026. This decline was influenced by lower FTT values across several agricultural subsectors. Meanwhile, foreign trade performance showed a positive trend, with the value of exports through loading ports in Sumatera Utara Province reaching US$4,241.33 million during January–April 2026, an increase of 12.13 percent compared to the same period in 2025.

In the tourism and transportation sectors, the number of international tourist arrivals to Sumatera Utara Province through three entry points reached 24,815 visits in April 2026, an increase of 0.87 percent compared to March 2026. Meanwhile, the number of domestic passengers arriving through Kualanamu International Airport was recorded at 160,577 persons, a decrease of 30.07 percent compared to the previous month.
