Data Collaboration, Building the Nation: Statistics Agent Development Program for USU and UMSU 2026

BPS-Statistics Sumatera Utara Province successfully organized the 2026 Statistics Agent Development Program virtually on Friday, June 19, 2026. The program aimed to encourage university students to become pioneers of statistical literacy within their communities.

The Head of BPS-Statistics Sumatera Utara Province, Asim Saputra, together with representatives from the academic communities of the Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) and the Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara (UMSU), agreed that Statistics Agents play a crucial role as bridges of information. Their presence is expected to educate the public on the importance of accurate data, contribute to the success of the 2026 Economic Census, and serve as a foundation for innovation and well-targeted development.

This synergy has also received strong support from the academic sector. The Vice Rector III of Universitas Sumatera Utara, Himsar Ambarita, and the Secretary of the Development Economics Study Program at Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara, Sylvia Vianty Ranita, emphasized that accurate data is the primary foundation for education, research, innovation, and evidence-based policymaking.

Through this program, it is expected that a new generation will emerge that not only understands numbers but is also capable of educating the public about the importance of data in everyday life for the benefit and well-being of society.
