Abstract

EXPORT
- Export value through loading port in Sumatera Utara in December 2017 decreased compared to November 2017 from US $ 787.03 million to US $ 715,10 million or down by 9.14 percent. Similarly, compared to December 2016, exports of Sumatera Utara decreased 2.77 percent.
- The largest decline in export value of Sumatera Utara in December 2017 to November 2017 occurred in rubber and rubber goods category (HS 40) of US $ 14.66 million (-13.60%), followed by fats and animal / vegetable oils (HS 15 ) of US $ 7.36 million (-2.47%).
- Exports to the United States in December 2017 were the largest with US $ 101.12 million, followed by China with US $ 93.85 million and India with US $ 47.97 million with contribution of 33.97 percent.
- By group of destination countries in December 2017, exports to the Asian region (outside ASEAN) were the largest with a value of US $ 236.79 million (33.11 percent).

IMPORT
- Import value through Sumatera Utara December 2017 based on CIF (cost, insurance & freight) of US $ 489.15 million, or increased by 0.89 percent compared to November 2017 which reached US $ 484.85 million. When compared with the same month in the previous year, the value of imports increased by 16.66 percent.
- Import value in December 2017 compared to November 2017, capital goods rose by 9.57 percent, while raw / auxiliary materials fell by 2.95 percent and consumer goods fell by 0.71 percent.
- In December 2017, the category of goods that experienced the greatest increase in value of rubber and rubber goods (HS 40) amounted to US $ 2.85 (20.15%), while the category of goods which experienced the greatest decline in import value were machines / mechanical aircraft (HS 84) of US $ 18.77 million (-33.81%).
- The import value of December 2017 from China was the largest with US $ 174.12 million with 35.60 percent of North Sumatra's total imports, followed by Singapore US $ 47.14 million (9.64 percent) and Malaysia US $ 34 , 18 million (6.99%).
