Abstract

Export

- Export value through loading port in
Sumatera Utara in January 2018 decreased compared to December 2017, from US $ 715,10 million to US $ 690.20 million or decreased by 3.48 percent. Similarly, compared to January 2017, exports of North Sumatra decreased by 2.48 percent.

- The largest decline in export value of
Sumatera Utara in January 2018 to December 2017 occurred in fats and animal / vegetable oil (HS 15) of US $ 34.73 million (-11.94%), followed by organic chemicals (HS 29) US $ 4.72 million (-12.64%).

- Export to the United States in January 2018 was the largest of US $ 88.37 million, followed by China with US $ 74.82 million and India with US $ 51.00 million with contribution of 31.03 percent.
- In January 2018, exports to the Asian region (outside ASEAN) were the largest with a value of US $ 220.38 million (31.93 percent).

Import

- Import value through
Sumatera Utara in January 2018 based on CIF (cost, insurance & freight) of US $ 467.05 million, or decreased by 4.52 percent compared to December 2017 which reached US $ 489.15 million. When compared with the same month in the previous year, the value of imports increased by 35.23 percent.

- Import value in January 2018 compared to December 2017, capital goods decreased by 3.92 percent, consumer goods decreased by 21.19 percent, while raw material / auxiliary rose by 6.22 percent.

- In January 2018, the category of goods that experienced, the biggest decline in value of imports was the waste of food industry (HS 23) of US $ 5.37 million (-19.26%), while the category of goods which experienced the greatest increase in import value of the machine / electrical equipment (HS 85) for US $ 24.60 (46.50%).

- The import value of January 2018 from China was the largest of US $ 176.76 million with its role reaching 37.85 percent of total
Sumatera Utara imports, followed by Singapore amounting to US $ 71.35 million (15.28%), and Malaysia with US $ 30 , 53 million (6.54%).
