Abstract

EXPORT

• The value of exports through the port of loading in Sumatera Utara region in August 2019 decreased compared to July 2019, from US $ 707.64 million to US $ 673.99 million or decreased by 4.75 percent. When compared with August 2018, Sumatera Utara exports decreased by 11.17 percent.
• The value of Sumatera Utara exports which increased in August 2019 against July 2019 occurred in the rubber and rubber goods category of US $ 2.36 million (2.38%) followed by fruits of US $ 2.29 million (14.41%) and soap and preparations amounting to US $ 1.91 million (7.76%). The biggest decrease in export value this month occurred in the group of fats and animal / vegetable oils by US $ 15.36 million (-5.94%) followed by coffee, tea, spices down by US $ 11.50 million (-23.02%) .
• Exports to China in August 2019 were the largest at US $ 118.63 million followed by the United States at US $ 75.97 million and India at US $ 60.98 million with the contribution of the three reaching 37.92 percent.
• According to the group of export destinations in August 2019, exports to the Asian region (outside ASEAN) were the largest with a value of US $ 275.42 million (40.86 percent).


IMPORT

• Import value through Sumatera Utara in August 2019 on the basis of CIF (cost, insurance & freight) of US $ 343.02 million, down by 21.54 percent compared to July 2019 which reached US $ 437.21 million. When compared with the same month in the previous year, the value of imports decreased by 33.93 percent.
• Import values ​​that increased in August 2019 were capital goods group increased by 27.23 percent, while consumer goods decreased by 5.38 percent and raw / auxiliary materials decreased by 28.40 percent.
• In August 2019, the group of goods that experienced the largest increase in import value was rubber and rubber goods by US $ 1.08 million (7.17%), while the group of goods that experienced the greatest decline in import values ​​was mineral fuels by US $ 18.91 million (-45.36%) followed by inorganic chemicals decreased by US $ 14.05 million (-45.59%).
• August 2019 import value from China was the largest at US $ 115.40 million with a contribution of 33.64 percent of total Sumatera Utara imports, followed by Malaysia at US $ 29.99 million (8.74%) and the United States at US $ 29 81 million (8.69%).
