Abstract

EXPORT

þ Export value through loading port in Sumatera Utara region in February 2018 increased from January 2018, from US $ 690.20 million to US $ 724.67 million or increased by 4.99 percent. However, compared to February 2017, North Sumatra exports decreased by 5.13 percent.

þ The greatest increase of export value of Sumatera Utara in February 2018 to January 2018 occurred at group of fats and animal / vegetable oil (HS 15) amounted to US $ 43.03 million (16.80%) followed by chemical product category (HS 38) of US $ 8 , 84 million (10.30%), rubber and rubber goods (HS 40) amounted to US $ 8.75 million (8.90%).

þ Exports to China in February 2018 were the largest at US $ 101.14 million, followed by the United States at US $ 66.93 million and India with US $ 43.87 million with contribution of 29.25 percent.

þ According to export destination countries in February 2018, exports to the Asian region (outside ASEAN) were the largest with a value of US $ 227.54 million (31.40 percent).

IMPORT

þ Value of imports through Sumatera Utara in February 2018 based on CIF (cost, insurance & freight) of US $ 385.11 million, or decreased by 17.54 percent compared to January 2018 which reached US $ 467.05 million. When compared with the same month in the previous year, the value of imports increased by 44.84 percent.

þ Import value of February 2018 compared to January 2018, capital goods decreased by 43.12 percent, raw material / helpers decreased by 15.13 percent, and consumer goods increased by 10.87 percent.

þ In February 2018, the category of goods that experienced the greatest decline in value of imports were machinery / electrical equipment (HS 85) of US $ 27.73 million (49.63%), while the category of goods which experienced the greatest increase in import value of inorganic chemicals category HS 28) for US $ 11.54 (52.80%).

þ The import value of February 2018 from China was the largest with US $ 124.10 million with its role reaching 32.23 percent of total North Sumatra imports, followed by Singapore US $ 48.13 million (12.50%) and Malaysia US $ 41 , 01 million (10.65%).
