Abstract

• In December 2018, all CPI cities in Sumatera Utara experienced inflation, namely Sibolga by 0.10 percent; Pematangsiantar by 0.38 percent; Medan at 0.12 percent; and Padangsidimpuan by 0.41 percent. Thus, the combined 4 cities of CPI in Sumatera Utara in December 2018 were inflation of 0.15 percent.

• December 2018, Medan inflation of 0.12 percent or an increase in index from 138.37 in November 2018 to 138.53 in December 2018. Inflation occurs due to an increase in prices as indicated by an increase in the index of most expenditure groups, namely processed foods, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco group at 0.04 percent; housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel group by 0,15 percent; and the transportation, communication and financial services group by 0.86 percent. Meanwhile, the group experiencing a decline in index, namely the foodstuffs group by 0.25 percent; clothing group by 0.47 percent; and health group by 0.06 percent; while the education, recreation and sports groups did not experience changes in the index.

• The main commodities contributing to inflation during December 2018 in Medan include air transportation, broiler meat, shallots, dencis, cob / ambu-ambu, bloating / bloating, and wet shrimp.

• Out of the 23 CPI cities in Sumatra, all cities experienced inflation. The highest inflation occurred in Pangkal Pinang at 1.88 percent with CPI of 141.67 and the lowest occurred in Banda Aceh at 0.02 percent with CPI of 128.20.
