Abstract

• Growth in the production of the Large and Medium Manufacturing Industries of Sumatera Utara Province in the first quarter of 2019 fell by 3.91 percent compared to the same period in 2018 (y-on-y). This decline was mainly due to the decline in the production of tobacco processing industry by 35.37 percent, the pharmaceutical industry, chemical drug products and traditional medicine by 16.85 percent, the food industry by 12.67 percent and the chemical industry and goods from chemicals by 6, 61 percent.

• The growth of the production of the large and medium (q-to-q) manufacturing industries of Sumatera Utara Province in the first quarter of 2019 decreased by 9.33 percent compared to the production of large and medium manufacturing industries in the fourth quarter of 2018. Types of industries that experienced a decline were the tobacco processing industry 28.70 percent, pharmaceutical industry, chemical drug products and traditional medicine amounted to 22.26 percent, and the food industry amounted to 15.64 percent.

• Growth in the production of micro and small manufacturing industries in Sumatera Utara Province in quarter I-2019 increased by 14.98 percent compared to the same period in 2018 (y-on-y). The types of industries that experienced an increase include the other transportation equipment industries at 51.69 percent, the chemical industry and goods from chemicals by 47.80 percent, and repair and installation services for machinery and equipment at 24.07 percent.

• Growth in the production of micro and small manufacturing industries in Sumatera Utara Province in the first quarter of 2019 increased by 4.66 percent compared to quarter IV-2018 (q-to-q). The types of industries that experienced an increase were, among others, the transportation equipment industry by 24.16 percent, the food industry by 17.36 percent and the chemicals industry and goods from chemicals by 16.93 percent.

Large Medium Manufacturing Industry Production Growth Sumatera Utara Province Quarter III-2018, fell by 3.25 percent (y-on-y).
