Abstract

In January 2025, year-on-year (y-on-y) inflation in North Sumatra Province was 1.78 percent with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 107.32. The highest y-on-y inflation occurred in Labuhanbatu Regency at 3.09 percent with a CPI of 110.58, while the lowest y-on-y inflation occurred in Medan City at 1.62 percent with a CPI of 106.79.
The y-on-y inflation occurred due to an increase in prices indicated by an increase in the index of most expenditure groups, namely: food, beverages and tobacco group by 5.64 percent; clothing and footwear group by 1.99 percent; household equipment, equipment and routine maintenance group by 0.50 percent; health group by 2.07 percent; transportation group by 0.46 percent; information, communication and financial services group by 0.27 percent; recreation, sports, and culture group by 1.01 percent; education group by 1.03 percent; food and beverage/restaurant provision group by 2.23 percent; and personal care and other services group by 6.76 percent. Meanwhile, the expenditure group that experienced deflation was the housing, water, electricity, and household fuel group by 6.87 percent.
Month-to-month (m-to-m) inflation rate and year-to-date (y-to-d) inflation rate were each 0.07 percent
