Abstract

• Sumatera Utara Consumer Tendency Index (ITK) in the second quarter of 2018 was 125.05, meaning that the economic condition of consumers in the second quarter of 2018 was better than in the first quarter of 2018. The improvement in consumer economic conditions was mainly driven by an increase in current income (index value 136 , 14).

• Compared to the first quarter of 2018 ITK which is worth 101.22, this means that the level of consumer optimism in the second quarter of 2018 is higher than in the first quarter of 2018.

• Compared to provinces in Sumatra, the Sumatera Utara Quarter II-2018 index is in third place.

• The value of ITK in Sumatera Utara in the third quarter of 2018 is estimated at 95.06, meaning that the economic condition of consumers in the third quarter of 2018 is not expected to be better than the second quarter of 2018. The level of consumer pessimism is due to the low plan to purchase durable goods with index values amounting to 93.88.
