Abstract

EXPORT
• The value of exports through the port of loading in the Sumatera Utara region in October 2019 decreased compared to September 2019, from US $ 692.26 million to US $ 647.08 million or decreased by 6.53 percent. When compared with October 2018, Sumatera Utara exports decreased by 20.86 percent.
• The group of goods that experienced an increase in the value of Sumatera Utara's exports in October 2019 against September 2019 was the tobacco group of US $ 4.52 million (16.05%) followed by organic chemicals of US $ 2.67 million (10.40%). The decline in export value occurred in animal / vegetable fats and oils of US $ 56.40 million (-18.78%) followed by various chemical products of US $ 12.85 million (-18.33%).
• Exports to China in October 2019 were the largest at US $ 98.63 million followed by the United States at US $ 87.93 million and Japan at US $ 51.44 million with the contribution of the three reaching 36.78 percent.
• According to the group of main export destinations in October 2019, exports to the Asian region (outside ASEAN) were the largest with a value of US $ 252.31 (38.99 percent).


IMPORT
• Import value through Sumatera Utara in October 2019 on the basis of CIF (cost, insurance & freight) of US $ 336.96 million, down 15.53 percent compared to September 2019 which reached US $ 398.91 million. When compared with the same month in the previous year, the value of imports decreased by 35.47 percent.
• Import value by category of use of goods in October 2019 compared to September 2019, capital goods fell by 42.70 percent, raw / auxiliary materials decreased by 9.42 percent while consumer goods rose by 0.16 percent.
• In October 2019, the group of goods that experienced the highest increase in import value was iron and steel by US $ 9.53 million (65.35%), followed by wheat by US $ 3.98 million (73.00%). The goods that experienced a decline in the value of imports were machineries / aircraft mechanics at US $ 36.21 million (-44.86%) and inorganic chemicals at US $ 12.35 million (-43.77%).
• Import value in October 2019 from China was the largest at US $ 101.00 million with a role of 29.97 percent of total Sumatera Utara imports, followed by Malaysia at US $ 34.71 million (10.30%) and the United States at US $ 27 36 million (8.12%).
