Abstract

• The number of foreign tourists (tourists) visiting North Sumatra through four entrances in August 2020 reached 28 visits, a decrease of 80.56 percent compared to those who arrived in July 2020, reaching 144 visits. Likewise, when compared with the same month in 2019, the number of foreign tourists in August 2020 has decreased by 99.89 percent, from 26,609 visits in August 2019 to 28 visits.

• In August 2020, foreign tourists from Malaysia were the largest visitors with 4 visits or 14.29 percent of the total foreign tourists visiting North Sumatra.

• Room Occupancy Rate (TPK) of star hotels in North Sumatra in August 2020 reached an average of 29.38 percent, or an increase of 2.46 points compared to July 2020 of 26.92 percent.

• The average length of stay of foreign guests and Indonesian guests at star hotels in August 2020 reached 1.64 days, or an increase of 0.17 points compared to July 2020.

• The number of domestic passengers departing from North Sumatra via Kualanamu International Airport during August 2020 reached 89,451 people, or an increase of 42.20 percent compared to July 2020 which reached 62,907 people.

• The number of (domestic) inter-island sea transport passengers departing in August 2020 was recorded at 1,128 people, an increase of 62.30 percent compared to the previous month of 695 people.
