Abstract

EXPORT
• The value of exports through loading ports in the North Sumatra region in August 2020 decreased compared to July 2020, namely from US $ 715.98 million to US $ 683.15 million or a decrease of 4.59 percent. When compared to August 2019, North Sumatra's exports increased by 1.40 percent
• The category of goods that experienced the largest increase in export value in North Sumatra in August 2020 against July 2020 was the rubber and rubber goods group of US $ 9.55 million (10.46%).
• Exports to China in August 2020 were the largest at US $ 116.69 million, followed by the United States at US $ 89.44 million and India at US $ 55.45 million with the three contributions reaching 38.29 percent.
• According to the main group of export destination countries in August 2020, exports to the Asian region (outside ASEAN) were the largest with a value of US $ 231.84 (33.94%)

IMPORT
• Import value through North Sumatra in August 2020 based on CIF (cost, insurance & freight) was US $ 304.68 million, or decreased by 0.63 percent compared to July 2020 which reached US $ 306.63 million. When compared with the same month in the previous year, the import value decreased by 12.00 percent
• Import value by category of goods use in August 2020 compared to July 2020, capital goods decreased by 14.53 percent, raw / auxiliary materials increased by 1.18 percent and consumer goods increased by 10.31 percent.
• In August 2020, the category of goods that experienced the largest increase in import value was electrical machinery / equipment amounting to US $ 7.11 million (59.07%). The categories of goods that experienced the largest decline in import value were machinery / mechanical appliances amounting to US $ 10.10 million (-21.32%).
• The import value in August 2020 from China was the largest at US $ 98.88 million with a role reaching 32.45 percent of the total imports of North Sumatra, followed by Malaysia at US $ 28.97 million (9.51%) and the United States at US $ 25 , 77 million (8.46%).
