Abstract

EXPORT
- Export value through loading port in Sumatera Utara region in March 2018 increased from February 2018 from US $ 724.67 million to US $ 758.65 million or increased by 4.69 percent. However, compared to March 2017, exports of Sumatera Utara decreased by 8.72 percent.
- The greatest increase of export value of Sumatera Utara in March 2018 occurred on coffee, tea, spice (HS 09) amounted to US $ 14.02 million (54.38%) followed by rubber and rubber goods (HS 40) class of US $ 8.32 million (7.7%) and fruits (HS 08) amounted to US $ 6.15 million (43.14%).
- Exports to the US in March 2018 were the largest with US $ 100.16 million, followed by China with US $ 92.37 million and India with US $ 48.60 million with contribution of 31.78 percent.
- According to export destination countries in March 2018, the Asian region (outside ASEAN) was the largest with a value of US $ 239.87 million (31.59 percent).

IMPORT
- Import value through Sumatera Utara March 2018 based on CIF (cost, insurance & freight) of US $ 399.37 million, or increased by 3.70 percent compared to February 2018 which reached US $ 385.11 million. When compared with the same month in the previous year, the value of imports increased by 14.86 percent.
- Import value in March 2018 compared to February 2018, capital goods rose by 26.67 percent, raw / auxiliary materials rose by 2.00 percent, and consumer goods decreased by 7.32 percent.
- In March 2018, the category of goods that experienced the greatest increase in value of imports were machineries / aircraft mechanics (HS 84) of US $ 18.30 million (48.71%), while the category of goods that experienced the greatest decrease in the value of imports were chemicals inorganic (HS 28) of US $ 16.08 (-48.16%).
- March's import value of March 2018 from China was the largest of US $ 111.14 million with its role reaching 27.83 percent of total Sumatera Utara imports, followed by Singapore at US $ 63.01 million (15.78%) and Malaysia at US $ 45 , 60 million (11.42%)
