Abstract

Gender as a multidimensional issue and is listed in almost all the Sustainable Development Goals. In evaluating development outcomes from a gender perspective, several indicators are used, one of which is the Gender Development Index (GPA). Therefore, it is deemed necessary to observe and further examine the development situation of the North Sumatra region based on gender. GPI is a comparison between the Human Development Index (HDI) of men and HDI of women in terms of the quality of the dimensions of education, health, and economy. The education dimension uses the expected length of schooling and the average length of schooling, the health dimension uses life expectancy, and the economic dimension uses adjusted per capita expenditure. The GPA figure that is close to 100 indicates that women's development achievements are almost the same as men's. However, we need to pay attention to the level of HDI achievement of men and women in a region, namely whether they are both high or equally low.
